In 1998, when we submitted an application to become a Michigan Heritage Route, we had no
idea that we would begin to see Woodward Avenue as much more than a road, but as a story of
many significant people and events. The following year, Woodward was granted
Heritage Route designation.

In 2002, having expanded our knowledge and appreciation of Woodward’s assets,
the significance of the avenue’s heritage was recognized nationally with the prestigious
National Scenic Byway designation—one of only 126 in the country.

We continue to champion the heritage of a road that so many
of us love. By purchasing this merchandise, you help us
celebrate and preserve the heritage of Woodward Avenue.
All profits are used to match grants and
advance our efforts in Telling and
Preserving Woodward Avenue’s Story.
Thank you!
